Terms and condition

By creating a tutoring profile with Merit Tutors, you are bind to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read these carefully and ensure that you understand them before registering with us.

On-site Tutoring
1. REGISTRATION

The Student/Guardian will be expected to complete all pre-payments prior to commencing lessons at our Centre.
This involves a £50 refundable deposit which will be returned to the Student when they decide to leave us, provided that the Student/Guardian informs us of their withdrawal 14 days in advance of the final date; a £10 admission fee and cost of study equipments (e.g. exercise book, workbooks)

2. FEES PAYMENT

The Tutor is never paid directly. Merit Tutors manages the payment of all Tutors. The Student/Guardian will be expected to complete the tuition payments at least one month in advance prior to the delivery of the scheduled lessons.

We accept the following methods of payment:
-Cash
-Bank Transfer
-Card Payments

3. SCHEDULE OF LESSONS

Tutoring shall be conducted on a day and time as mutually agreed upon by both the Centre and Student/Guardian.

4. CANCELLATION OF LESSONS BY STUDENT

The Student may cancel a tuition session by giving at least [24 hours] prior notice to the Centre. However, the Student will be expected to attend a catch-up session at a later time agreeable to both parties. Lessons not attended by the Student without giving [24 hours] prior notice to the Centre will be charged at the full price.

5. CANCELLATION OF LESSONS BY TUTOR

The Centre may cancel a lesson by giving [24 hours] prior notice to the Student,however, a catch-up sessionwill have to be arranged at a later time agreeable to both parties.

6. LATE ARRIVAL

Fees are calculated according to the times stipulated in the schedule and no adjustment shall be made for time lost because of late arrival by the Student.
Any lost time because of the late arrival of the Tutor shall be compensated for by extending a lesson by mutual agreement and by such amount of time that was lost.

7. CHANGING SUBJECTS/SESSIONS OR LEAVING

Where the Student wishes to swap their current session for another subject or move to another session, they will be required to provide the Centre with a minimum of 14 days notice. Depending on availability, the Centre will try its utmost best to fulfil this request.
Where the Student would like to terminate their tutoring session(s), they will be required to complete a cancellation request form and again provide a minimum of 14 days notice to the Centre.

8. OBLIGATIONS OF THE STUDENT
  • The Student undertakes to assist the Tutor in identifying problem areas in which the Student needs specific tutoring.
  • The Student undertakes to attend lessons and to do his best to gain knowledge and obtain new skills as well as to do his/her homework tasks assigned by the Tutor.
  • The Student agrees that assignments, exercises or homework are integral part of tutoring and undertakes to complete such work properly and timely.
9. COMPLAINTS

It is important that Students are happy with the tuition that they are receiving. In the unlikely event of displeasure with our service, please email info@merittutors.co.uk or speak to a member of staff as soon as an issue arises. In the case of an irrevocable break-down in the relationship between the Student and their Tutor, the assigned Tutor may be replaced, if another suitably qualified Tutor is available and if the replacement Tutor is acceptable to the Student/Guardian.
